Hello, I'm Lisa MacDonald, the artist, illustrator, gardener and chief tea-maker behind MollyMac Living. MollyMac began as a simple idea: as the trending interiors became ever more neutral, I had a desire to go against the grain and create joyful, eclectic and colourful designs that make people smile. From there, I started drawing and slowly, slowly what began as sketches and ideas on paper gradually grew into a collection of art prints, homeware, greeting cards and, more recently, books. Everything I make is inspired by the natural world I love so much.

I live in Jersey in the Channel Islands which is part of the British Isles but closer to France than to the UK geographically and much of my inspiration comes from the changing seasons, wildlife visitors and garden flowers (both real and imagined),  and the everyday beauty that surrounds me.

My sketchbooks are filled with curious birds, beautiful flowers, tangled seed heads, colourful blooms and observations gathered from walks, memories, other people’s gardens and my own family life.

My dad always used to say, “this island is a giant garden” and it is!

My own family life is with my husband, Simon, and together we have four children who have now grown and are starting families of their own. We brought them up to realise that there was magic in imagination and storytelling and as a consequence they are all artists of one kind or another… that serves us right!

I do enjoy spending time outdoors when it is sunny… but when it isn’t you will find me in my studio painting, listening to audio books, podcasts or the radio. I while away hours there, imagining and reimagining my curiosity with the natural world which seems to find its way into everything I create - whether it's a vibrant tea towel, a botanical art print or my children's book ‘This Garden is Magic’.

Every MollyMac design begins as an illustration. From there, my artwork takes on a life of its own, finding its way onto prints, cards, homeware and books. Together, they form what I like to think of as my illustrated world – a place where gardens bloom all year round, the wildlife is always welcome and abundant, colour is never in short supply and things are just joyful.

Thank you for visiting. I do hope my work brings a little colour, joy and wildness into your home.
